Well since I’m out of school I’ve decided to review my favorite Wii game, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. I have the Wii version so it’s slightly different than other versions, but all together it’s pretty much the same. There are many different modes that it has, but I’ll start with Dragon History. Dragon History is pretty much story mode. It has eight sagas. Saiyan Saga, Frieza Saga, Android Saga, Majin Buu Saga, Special Saga, Dragon Ball Saga, Dragon Ball GT Saga, and What If Saga. I am kind of disappointed with this mode because half of the fights in the series are left out. Mostly in the Android Saga, and Majin Buu Saga. (And the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT Sagas, but only because they have a small selection of characters from those series.) Anyway the game play of the fights are sometimes fixed to make the fight play better with the saga, for example, in the fight with Raditz, Goku and Piccolo have normal health, but Raditz has almost maximum health and is hard to stun. Also, to advance in the story you press the ’1′ button when the signal appears. Now on to Ultimate Battle. In this mode you can play Sim Dragon, or Mission 100. Sim Dragon is like a battle simulator. You train for 10 days (not literally) then fight an opponent. Mission 100 has missions you can accomplish, but it stats with only 50 you can do. You need to get the rank ‘Z’ in all of them to unlock the other 50. You can also unlock Survival later on, and you can try to beat a number of opponents with only one character. Now to Dragon World Tour. In this mode, you can fight in tournaments, but they, and their difficulty are selected via time. They all have somewhat different rules but two of them. And now Duel. This is probably the most important mode aside from Dragon History. You can fight in against a COM, or another player, or COM vs COM. You can also change the settings. After you choose something you can either play Single Battle, which is one-on-one, Team Battle, one to five-on-one to five, or DP (Destruction Point) Battle which is forming a team using a limited amount of DP. (Example: Goku (End) has 6 DP. Vegeta (Second Form) has 5 DP.) Now I should get to the fighting game play. You press ‘A’ to attack, ‘B’ to fire Ki Blasts (Hold to fire a strong one), Control Pad to charge Ki, and you use motions while holding a part of the Control Pad to use Blast 1 Attacks, Blast 2 Attacks, and your Ultimate Attack. To use Blast 1 Attacks, you follow it’s movement (Movements on Pause Screen) and do it. It only works if your Blast Gauge is high enough. Blast 2 Attacks require, movement, and Ki. Motions usually depend on the attack. Some attacks can even be charged to be more powerful. These attacks are: Kamehameha, Super Kamehameha, Special Beam Cannon, and Masenko. Now for Ultimate Blast. The Ultimate Blast is also known as your Finishing Move, because it is very powerful. You need to have full power to use this however, Now to Dragon Net Battle, with this you can fight people online, just like duel. That’s pretty much it. Then there’s Evolution Z, you can buy Z Items and put them on you’re character. These can give them special affects, or just make them stronger. I’m kinda gonna do the rest of this pretty quick since this is a very long post already. On to Ultimate Training. You can learn movements and practice them on a COM. That’s all really. Then there’s Data Center which can have replays of fights, and summon Red Potara Characters. Now Character Reference. You can learn about characters, hear their battle sayings, hear Chi-Chi’s Commentary, and see their costumes. That’s pretty much it for that. And finally, Options, you can just fix things and adjust settings, the name pretty much sums it up. Time for the rating:
4.5/5
Yep. It would’ve gotten 5/5 if it had more battles in Dragon History, but it’s still a great game. That’s about it. See ya later.
